Off Roading Adventure to Little Finland

Lately, I’ve been on a mission to find new places around Las Vegas to take beautiful photos and hike. Little day trips here and there are always fun and a great way to get some fresh air and explore.

I recently went to a new place called Little Finland. It’s a little further than the other places I’ve been hiking to recently but… in my opinion, it was totally worth the drive!

Little Finland is located in Nevada by the Gold Butte National Monument. It’s about a 2 hour drive from Las Vegas and then another hour or so of off roading… so make sure you have the right car. An SUV or truck with 4WD will do.

To get to Little Finland from Las Vegas… head north on the I- 15 towards Mesquite. You will pass the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and then when you see signs of Gold Butte Monument, you will exit there. There are signs for Little Finland, so just follow those. There is no entrance fee and you do not need a permit or anything to visit here as well! Great right?!

If you’re not into off roading and bumpy roads… this might not be for you. But if it is… this is a perfect day trip! If you don’t have an accessible car or you don’t want to drive on that type of terrain… you can park and hike the 12 miles… but um… that’s a pretty far hike. But totally up to you!

We only saw about 10 cars that whole day we were there. If you’re looking for seclusion… and a little peace and quiet, this is definitely the place to go. Once I got there, I felt like I was on the set of some sci-fi movie. The rock formations were interesting and beautiful at the same time.

We hiked a little bit then enjoyed lunch right in the middle of the beautiful red rocks and sand. I definitely recommend bringing a lunch and some snacks… and of course a lot of water! A trip to Little Finland is definitely a whole day trip! We left at about 8:30 in the morning and returned back to Vegas around 5pm.

Here are some more photos I captured that I hope will entice you to visit Little Finland!

Happy exploring!
