The Perfect Weekend in San Francisco

San Francisco continues to be one of my most favorite cities in the world. There’s just something about this city that makes me want to go back as often as I can.

San Francisco is tiny but there is a lot to see… but if you’re crunched on time, I have the perfect weekend itinerary for you!

  • Try to catch a game at AT&T Park! Even if you’re not a huge fan of baseball, this stadium is definitely worth checking out. Right on the water, it gives you the most amazing views of the bay. (make sure you bring a sweater, San Francisco weather can be so unpredictable and it can get quite cold next to the water).
  • After the game, make your way to Fisherman’s Wharf. Must trys: clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl and oysters! If you don’t like seafood… well, I don’t know what to tell you.🤔
  • Take a stroll down Embarcadero, where you can get some of the most amazing views of the Bay Bridge. I recommend going here at night. The views are so much more worth it when you see the lights from the bridge twinkling and the reflection of the moon off the water.

  • If you don’t know by now… I am a HUGE fan of the Hop On Hop Off bus tours. Especially, if you’re only in a city for a couple of days… it’s the perfect way to see most of the city quickly and on a budget. The bus stops at all of the major tourist spots. BUT, San Francisco traffic can suck sometimes, so I recommend you make this a whole day thing. Set off early in the morning and then the last route for the bus is around 6pm. This will give you enough time to enjoy each spot, instead of feeling rushed.
  • Hop On Hop Off Bus stops:
    • Alamo Square, where you can see The Painted Ladies: Great photo ops. But, that’s pretty much it. Cool to see the houses that we’ve all seen on Full House.
    • Haight and Ashbury: A must visit for everyone. But I must warn you, you will see some interesting things here. The last time I went, I saw a group of guys that were part of the naked bike ride. Yup, you guessed it, they were all naked, completely naked.
    • Chinatown: need I say more? Grab some dim sum and stroll around the cute shops and pick up some souvenirs.
    • Union Square: Right in the middle of downtown, with some of the most famous streets in San Francisco surrounding it. Tons of shopping, restaurants and bars.
    • Ferry Building: Walk around the piers and water. You can also see the clock tower. Snap some pics and have lunch outside.
    • Golden Gate Bridge: OF COURSE you have to go here. (if you have more time, I suggest renting a bicycle or even walking across the bridge. It’s absolutely beautiful!)
    • Lombard Street: Quite possibly, one of the most famous streets in the world. Featured in many movies and shows. (although, trying to get a good photo here was not easy, tons of tourists all around, maybe going earlier in the morning might be a better idea).

  • Unfortunately, I have never had the chance to go to Alcatraz.🙁Even when I lived there, I never went. The last time I was in San Francisco, I planned on going but then they were all sold out of tickets! UGH. Now I know that you must book your ticket well in advance. I’ve been told Alcatraz is a must, so make sure you put this on your list.
  • Twin Peaks: You can catch some gorgeous views of the entire city from the top of the hill of Twin Peaks.

These are just some of the things that I’ve done in San Francisco and that I loved! Enjoy one of my favorite cities!

Happy Traveling!
